Belle with Flowers | Watercolor

I love the Disney fine art of Michelle St. Laurent. This morning I tried my hand at a watercolor of Belle, and used her toothbrush splatter technique to add spontinaity to the painting.

Composing with Kids | Free Piano eBook

My Composing with Kids eBook was a little lighter project that the piano primer. With this one the only significant illustrating was the cover. If your interested in checking out the rest of the book, or sharing it with your piano teacher, I've included the link below.

All-in-One Piano Primer | Free eBook

I've been working on a piano primer for awhile now, that includes a printable version on my site MakingMusicFun.net, and a simple app for the iPad. It was one of the biggest projects I've ever taken on, because I was writing the music, formatting the book, and creating all the illustrations.

The effort sure has paid off, and the primer is now one of the most popular resources on the site.

I've included a few of the illustrations below, with a link to the the book if you would like to print a copy, or just check out the rest of the illustrations.

I drew these two guys at the suggestion of a friend for a Bible Quiz Team t-shirt. I hope it provides a few moments of fun the your kids!

Girl with Roses | Sketchbook Watercolor

I enjoy drawing cartoon/animated characters in pencil, and watercolor painting, so I wondered about combining the two. This is the result of my little experiment. Maybe a series of Disney princess drawings next to a bouquet of watercolor flowers would be fun?

Frozen | Character Sketch and Watercolor of "Anna"

My wife and I recently attended the Disney D23 Convention in Anaheim, CA, and heard a little about the new animated feature "Frozen". While my wife was in line to get her nails painted up all glittery I doodled "Anna."

I also tried a watercolor based on a  sketch by Disney Artist Steve Thompson.

Website Design | Electronimo Joe

I did some designing over the weekend for the ElectronimoJoe.com website that will feature electronics projects for kids. The name of the site and the dog logo idea came from the Jetson's cartoon that introduced a dog just before Astro, named Electronimo. The Jetson's Electronimo looked a bit like a doberman with a hinged jaw. I went for a little funnier vibe with this dog. I also couldn't resist including a kid with a laser beam that he built. It cracks me up. I hope it's a big hit for the site owner.

Here are a few close up images of the characters:

Gru (Despicable Me) | Drawsomething

Yep, it's true... my wife and I play Drawsomething just about every night. Words from Despicable Me are paying more virtual coins than anything else, so we're drawing Despicable Me characters and words ... often. (My wife has drawn about 500 minions - Really!)

Villian | Drawsomething

My wife, Trica, and I finally earned enough stars to buy the "Spray Paint" tool in the Drawsomething II app. Super fun!

This was my first go with the new tool. The word was "Villian".

California Landscape | Watercolor

Every time I visit family in Southern California I like to swing by the Simi Valley Art Association art gallery at the Simi Valley mall. This time one of the artists was there who's watercolor art I admire very much - Pong Apinyavat. Later that week I was able to join in on a super fun and helpful class. This landscape was one of two pieces that we worked on.

This weeks Illustration Friday word is "Storm". I doodled this crazy bird being hurled from a tornado. I guess that qualifies. :-)

Hope you enjoy it!

Adam and Eve | Free Coloring Page

I've been inspired to create scenes for several coloring pages recently, so here's another one - Adam and Eve. It's such a wonderful Bible story, and a coloring page that that was missing from my collection of Bible coloring pages on my art site MakingArtFun.com.

Interested in printing this one for your kids? Here it is:

Kangaroo from Carnival of the Animals | Free Listening Map Worksheet

I've been enjoying opportunities to create characters for my music education site, MakingMusicFun.net. This listening map is my latest. Worksheets like this one help kids to visually understand elements within a piece of music. This one in particular  focuses on pitch and musical form.

If you're interested, you can download the worksheet here:
